What We Offer
Virtual & In-Person Therapy
We offer virtual therapy for teens and adults across Michigan through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, providing accessible and flexible care statewide, including Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Washtenaw, and St. Clair Counties. In-person sessions are also available in our Berkley office—a safe place to land.
Eating Disorder Treatment
At Rare, our clinicians specialize in eating disorder therapy and body image support for adolescents and adults. Using a Health at Every Size (HAES®), Intuitive Eating, and Body Trust–informed approach, we help clients heal their relationship with food, reconnect with their bodies, and move toward lasting recovery.
Food & Body Therapy Groups
Healing happens in relationship. We offer eating disorder recovery therapy groups and body image support groups in Michigan, creating space for connection, learning, and community. Rare also offers mind-body workshops for those ready to embody and live the principles of body acceptance, food freedom, and self-trust.
Trauma Therapy & EMDR
We provide trauma-informed therapy using psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic experiencing, internal family systems (IFS) therapy, and EMDR therapy. Our approach integrates both top-down and bottom-up methods to support healing of the mind-body connection.
What Makes Rare Different

Trauma-Informed
We provide trauma-informed therapy that creates a safe, attuned space where your nervous system can settle. We understand how past experiences shape present patterns, and we move at a pace that honors your readiness—never forcing, always supporting.

Integrative
We use an integrative approach to therapy that brings together insight, emotional awareness, and body-based healing. Rather than relying on one method, we tailor treatment to your needs in the moment—supporting both understanding and meaningful, lasting change.

Relational & Inclusive
We combine evidence-based therapy with authentic human connection, offering affirming care for all identities, body experiences, gender diversity, and family structures in Michigan. This is a space where you are welcomed fully, as you are.
